Xiao Li noticed that the person beside her remained still and dared not speak too loudly, so she leaned close to Jiang Mian’s ear.

“Sister Mianmian, aren’t we leaving?”

Most of the people on the first floor had already left, only a few remained on the second floor, especially the four of them.

Jiang Mian raised her hand to touch her ear; Xiao Li’s breath tickled it softly.

“Let’s wait for Senior Brother Xu Mu to come and take us to eat.”

After saying this, she turned her head and winked at Xiao Li.

Sure enough, the little girl’s eyes sparkled as she looked at her.

Hmm, once again admired.

That feeling inexplicably lifted Jiang Mian’s spirits, and without realizing it, she began humming a little tune.

When a sharp gaze fell upon her from the side, she didn’t even notice.

Xiao Ming followed Wen Jinghuai’s gaze and saw Jiang Mian’s head nodding rhythmically, softly humming a melodious tune.

It sounded somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t quite recall when he had heard it before.

“Mr. Wen,” he leaned forward to ask about Wen Jinghuai’s next plan.

The man raised his hand slightly, interrupting what he was about to say.

Xiao Ming nodded and sat back down.

When Xu Mu arrived, he saw all four sitting upright in their seats, unmoving.

The footsteps startled Jiang Mian; she stopped humming and turned to see Xu Mu, dressed in casual clothes.

Rising to her feet, Jiang Mian smiled at him. “Senior Brother Xu Mu, long time no see.”

“Mianmian,” Xu Mu smiled, then his gaze shifted to Wen Jinghuai, as if he had something to say.

Jiang Mian glanced around; no one else remained on the second floor.

She reached out, pulling Xiao Li, and nodded toward Xu Mu. “Senior Brother, we’ll go downstairs and wait for you.”

“All right.”

Watching Jiang Mian descend the stairs, Xu Mu’s gaze finally withdrew.

“Mr. Wen, hello.”

Wen Jinghuai rose from his seat, glanced briefly at Xu Mu’s extended hand, and shook it lightly.

“Mr. Xu.”

“Mr. Wen, I have considered your proposal. It is indeed very helpful for expanding the domestic market, but as you know, my main focus is on the international market.”

Xu Mu didn’t mince words; as businessmen, it was better to be direct than to guess each other’s thoughts.

He was never one for pretense, and after speaking, he looked candidly at Wen Jinghuai.

Seemingly having anticipated Xu Mu’s response, Wen Jinghuai smiled faintly, the curve of his lips subtle.

“I know Mr. Xu has little interest in the domestic market. However, your junior sister recently might be facing some difficulties. Perhaps you should consider this.”

He glanced meaningfully toward the first floor, then withdrew his gaze, his expression almost unreadable.

Xu Mu was momentarily stunned, then thought of Jiang Mian.

He had not previously asked whether Jiang Mian was acquainted with Wen Jinghuai.

From these words, it seemed Wen Jinghuai was quite familiar with Jiang Mian’s situation.

Could it be?

His eyes narrowed slightly, appraising the man standing before him.

As the head of the Wen family in the capital, his bearing and refinement were both exceptional.

Simply standing there in silence, Xu Mu felt many young women would fall in love at first sight.

Except Jiang Mian.

Then who else?

“Mr. Wen, regarding my junior sister?”

“I just value talent,” he said simply, nodding slightly.

Xu Mu’s words caught in his throat; he forced a smile and nodded knowingly.

“I will consider what you said, Mr. Wen. And thank you for attending my product launch.”

Jiang Mian lingered at the entrance of the first-floor venue for about ten minutes before seeing Xu Mu and Wen Jinghuai emerge side by side, with Xiao Ming a few steps behind.

She looked at Xu Mu with delight, her gaze involuntarily falling on Wen Jinghuai.

The man stood tall and upright, and when next to Xu Mu, seemed to outshine his usual radiance.

“Mr. Wen, take care.”

Xu Mu stopped and smiled as he watched Wen Jinghuai leave.

As he departed, his eyes glanced over Jiang Mian without lingering.

She had wanted to say “goodbye,” but it suddenly seemed unnecessary.

Almost forgot—they weren’t that close after all.

The car waiting outside was arranged by Xiao Ming in advance.

Once inside, Wen Jinghuai’s gaze turned to the view outside the window.

Under the corridor of the venue, Jiang Mian didn’t know what she was saying to Xu Mu, but both wore smiles.

They stood quite close; the girl looked up slightly at the man, appearing delicate.

Her sky-blue qipao glowed brilliantly under the sunlight, making her look exceptionally radiant.

The car moved forward, and the pair gradually shrank from view.

Xiao Ming’s voice suddenly broke the silence inside the car, “Mr. Wen, are we going straight to see the old master?”

The old master’s seventieth birthday was approaching, but he had been abroad for two years. Wen Jinghuai’s visit also involved personally bringing the old master back to the country.

When Xu Mu brought Jiang Mian and Xiao Li back to the villa, it was already around one in the afternoon.

On the way, they had stopped at a supermarket to buy some groceries.

Jiang Mian was a little surprised. “Senior Brother, I thought you were going to take me out to eat.”

“What’s so good about Western food? Your senior brother will cook for you.”

She raised her hand to cover her mouth, her face full of astonishment.

You must understand, Xu Mu never used to cook before.

Born into a privileged family, he never needed to cook and only knew how to eat.

Back when Teacher Chen took them out for a picnic, Xu Mu could even burn the meat he grilled.

Now, this guy was confidently boasting about his cooking skills.

“Senior Brother, where did you learn to cook so well?”

Jiang Mian leaned against the marble counter, holding freshly squeezed orange juice Xu Mu had just made for her.

She propped her chin with one hand, blinking as she watched Xu Mu slice carrots; within seconds, the carrots in front of her were cut into uniform thin slices.

A smile played at the corners of her lips as Xu Mu continued working methodically.

“I’m self-taught. Your senior brother is a genius.”

“Come off it.”

She waved her hand with a hint of disdain; Xu Mu always bragged like this in front of her.

Even though he was now a renowned designer, he couldn’t shake off that little stubborn streak.

But that was a good thing; it meant Xu Mu would always be the best Xu Mu.

She smiled, holding her orange juice, then turned to see Xiao Li watching variety shows on TV again.

She was deeply fond of that particular show.

“No more of this. I want to watch something else!”

She said as she sat beside Xiao Li and reached to snatch the remote.

Of course, Xiao Li wouldn’t give it up so easily; she hadn’t finished watching the show!

“Oh, Sister Mianmian, please let me watch just a little longer!”

She hugged the remote tightly, her upper body almost pressed against Jiang Mian’s legs, looking pitiful.

“Sister Mianmian, you’re going to spill your orange juice!”

Jiang Mian glanced at her right hand—no, it was clearly Xiao Li tricking her.

Well, whatever, let her have her way.
