Chapter 46: First Snow: Such a Delicious Drink
Wang Chu and Chuxue spent a long time gazing at the sea and the sky from the shore. During this time, neither of them spoke, quietly savoring nature’s masterpiece.
Two hours later, the sun hung high, and the ground had already grown somewhat scorching.
Wang Chu spat out the blade of grass from the corner of his mouth, stood up, and walked toward the shoreline.
Seeing this, Chuxue did not ask any questions, but simply sat in her original spot, silently watching his retreating figure.
She watched as he crossed the sea of flowers, reached the golden sandy beach by the water, and produced several items from his spatial ring.
After a bit of assembling, two enormous parasols immediately came into view.
At that moment, Wang Chu turned around and beckoned to Chuxue, signaling her to come over.
Chuxue slowly climbed up from the grass, patted her behind, and then ran toward Wang Chu and toward the sea.
A short while later, she reached Wang Chu’s side, looked up at the canopy of the parasol, and then glanced down at the lounge chair beneath it, unable to help praising:
"Impressive. You really do have quite a few bizarre things on you."
Wang Chu shook his head complacently and smugly:
"Like I said, they call me the Doraemon of the Immortal Realm. Hurry up and lie down to try it out."
As he spoke, Wang Chu had already taken the lead in lying down under one of the parasols, resting the back of his head on his hands.
Following his example, Chuxue did the same and lay down under the other parasol.
At this point, Wang Chu retrieved a small table from his storage space and placed two glass cups upon it.
Then, he took out a porcelain bottle and poured two cups of liquid into the glasses.
The liquid in Chuxue’s cup was a transparent yellow, while the one on Wang Chu’s side was a transparent blue.
Looking at the liquid in the cup, Chuxue asked with some confusion:
"What is this?"
"Iced fruit juice beverage," Wang Chu said as he dropped six ice cubes into each of the two cups.
"Iced fruit juice beverage?"
This was the first time Chuxue had ever heard such a term.
Watching the bubbles rising in the juice, Wang Chu inserted two specially made paper straws into the two drinks respectively:
"Simply put, it’s something similar to sugar water. Drinking it when it’s hot is extremely refreshing."
Wang Chu picked up the blue drink, put his mouth to the straw, took a sip, and made a slurping sound:
"Ah, refreshing!"
Raising his cup toward Chuxue, he said:
"Give it a try."
Hearing this, Chuxue imitated Wang Chu, picked up the yellow drink, bit the straw with her lips, and frowned:
"Can't I just drink it directly? Why bite this thing? It doesn't taste good at all."
"Hahaha."
Wang Chu placed his drink on the table and doubled over with laughter.
Chuxue had no idea where Wang Chu’s humor came from and asked in a daze:
"What's so funny?"
Wang Chu waved his hand without explaining, and simply said:
"Wrap your lips around the straw and take a breath. Remember, don't bite it with your teeth."
Chuxue nodded, half-understanding, and then wrapped her lips around the straw and drew a breath.
In an instant, a large amount of beverage rushed into her mouth.
"Cough, cough!"
Because she failed to control her strength and inhaled too much of the drink, Chuxue ended up choking.
Watching her clumsy appearance, Wang Chu wore an expression of schadenfreude:
"Hahaha, you really are so clumsy."
Chuxue felt a bit miffed:
"How am I clumsy? Humph!"
Wiping her mouth, she picked up her drink unconvincingly and tried again.
Having gained some experience, she drank smoothly this time without any accidents, the chilled beverage successfully entering her mouth through the straw.
The sweet and sour flavor immediately caused Chuxue’s eyes to sparkle:
"Mmm! This is so good!"
Aside from spring water, Chuxue had previously only ever consumed medicinal broths used for cultivation, and had never tasted such a sweet, sour, and delicious nectar.
Taking her small mouth off the straw and swallowing the drink in her mouth, she asked curiously:
"What on earth is this made from?"
Wang Chu picked up his drink with one hand and took a small sip:
"Some fruits."
To avoid causing Chuxue any psychological burden, Wang Chu did not mention the names or the ages of the fruits.
He was afraid that if he told her, Chuxue would be too embarrassed to drink it.
After all, these drinks were made from precious spiritual herbs aged a million years.
Ordinary people would never dare to drink like this.
"So fruits can be used this way too!"
Chuxue exclaimed as if she had discovered a new world.
The sea breeze blew toward them at that moment, and Chuxue felt as though she were living in an earthly paradise.
She couldn't be certain of much else, but she was entirely sure that when it came to enjoyment, Wang Chu was definitely the absolute best in the entire world.
Someone who didn't know how to enjoy themselves could never create these bizarre things.
"Hehe, ignorant and easily amazed."
As they grew more familiar with one another, Wang Chu’s tongue grew sharper as well.
Chuxue didn't get angry, and continued to savor the delicious drink through her straw.
After the beverage went down, she first felt a chill in her chest, followed by a warm sensation rising in her lower abdomen, which spread throughout her entire body.
Seeing her reaction, Wang Chu smiled slightly, and then pulled another item from his spatial ring: a fishing rod.
As an avid fisherman, if Wang Chu came to the seaside and didn't fish, he would slap himself twice across the face upon returning.
Seeing Wang Chu pull out yet another bizarre-looking contraption, Chuxue asked numbly:
"What is that?"
Wang Chu introduced it with considerable pride:
"The Wang Chu Brand Self-Made Fishing Rod."
Hearing that it was a fishing rod, Chuxue finally understood one thing:
"Oh, so it's a fishing rod."
Wang Chu shook his head and emphasized:
"You mustn't compare this fishing rod of mine to ordinary ones."
Chuxue was quite curious:
"What's the difference?"
Wang Chu began to explain with great satisfaction:
"Take this fishhook, for instance. It's different from ordinary fishhooks."
Chuxue looked at the fishhook and examined it for a moment, but couldn't spot anything particularly special:
"How is it different?"
...
Hong Zhongyuan was the behind-the-scenes master manipulator of the top-tier first and second-rank sects within Laizhou.
In his life, this man had two major hobbies: playing chess and fishing.
Normally, aside from entering closed-door seclusion for cultivation and handling major sect affairs, he dedicated all his spare time to these two hobbies.
Today, seeing the weather clear up so rarely, Hong Zhongyuan used the pretext of seclusion to leave the sect alone, heading to the coast of Laizhou to find a spot by the sea to fish.
After careful selection, he finally chose an area relatively close to the coastline.
As a mighty figure at the Combination Realm, this old man never fished like mortals did, setting up his spot on a boat or by the shore.
His fishing spot was usually up in the sky:
Hong Zhongyuan flew leisurely above the sea area he had chosen, and then sat cross-legged upon a cloud in the sky.
After sitting down, he first pulled out some fish bait from his person and tossed it down toward the sea below.
A veritable "bait rain" immediately fell across a large expanse of the sea.
This was a fishing technique Hong Zhongyuan had learned from a book; to use the terminology from that book, it was called "nesting the swim."
Hong Zhongyuan concentrated and observed the sea area where he had baited the nest, quietly waiting for the fish to gather.
Before this, he had noticed that not far from his fishing location, there were two cultivators.
These two cultivators were a man and a woman; the man seemed to possess no cultivation at all, while the woman's cultivation realm was rather good.
Both of them were lying beneath a pair of strange umbrellas, with bizarre water placed beside them.
What the old man found even more attention-grabbing was that the man without any cultivation had just produced a fishing rod from his spatial ring.
