Inside a small restaurant.

Nan Yuanman sat contentedly in a chair, holding her round, full belly with satisfaction.

Meng Qinian looked at her plump belly with trepidation and couldn’t resist reaching out to touch it. “Why did you eat so much? Does it feel uncomfortable?”

Seeing her so swollen, like a balloon about to burst, he was worried her belly might explode any second.

Nan Yuanman felt a ticklish sensation from his touch, and couldn’t help but wiggle her small body, giggling softly in a childish voice, “Not uncomfortable.”

“No way, come on, I’ll take you to buy some digestive tablets,” Meng Qinian clicked his tongue, bent down, and lifted her off the chair.

After holding Nan Yuanman, whose face was chubby and round, Meng Qinian realized how light she was.

He weighed her up and down in his arms. “Don’t they feed you enough at home? How can you be so light? You don’t weigh anything.”

His little niece felt as heavy as a stone when he carried her, but Nan Yuanman’s weight didn’t match that of a five-year-old at all.

Nan Yuanman was a bit startled when lifted up, and after regaining her senses, she awkwardly hugged his neck, her body tense.

Meng Qinian’s eyes rolled back from the tight grip. “Loosen up, loosen up, you’re strangling me.”

Feeling embarrassed, Nan Yuanman loosened her hold a bit. She was about to speak when she noticed his face and let out a small exclamation.

Meng Qinian, carrying her, strode quickly toward the exit. Hearing her soft sound, he asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Big brother, your father is going to die,” she said, holding his face in both hands, carefully examining Meng Qinian’s complexion. A dark, ominous aura gradually enveloped the area representing his parents, and the usually round and full spot indicating his father slowly darkened.

This meant Meng Qinian’s father was in mortal danger; he was very likely to lose his father.

Meng Qinian’s expression changed drastically. “What did you say?!”

That old man was going to die?

But wasn’t he just at home, happily with his stepmother? How could he possibly die?

“Your father is going to die. Aren’t you happy?” Nan Yuanman tilted her head to look at him. Didn’t he just ask when his biological father would die? Now that he knew his father was about to die, why wasn’t he happy at all?

“I am happy! Of course I am happy, I just…” Meng Qinian’s voice rose slightly, as if hiding something, but inside he couldn’t help feeling anxious and worried. He gritted his teeth, cursing silently.

“Where is that old man now? Yuanman, I… I’ll pay. You help me save him, okay?”

A well-fed Nan Yuanman was easy to persuade. She patted her small chest. “Okay.”

She plucked a hair from Meng Qinian’s head, performed a divination, and pointed eastward. “He’s over there, about a thousand meters away from you.”

Before Meng Qinian could respond, he rushed out holding Nan Yuanman.

After leaving the Meng family, Meng Lei first went to Taigu Management to request surveillance footage and finally saw Meng Qinian leaving the gate in the video.

Grumbling, he drove out of the villa area, searching for Meng Qinian’s figure while talking on the phone.

As his car left the villa area and merged onto the main road, waiting at a traffic light, the surrounding light suddenly darkened drastically.

A thick white fog rose before Meng Lei’s eyes, severely reducing visibility and making it impossible for him to see the road ahead clearly.

“What’s going on? Why is there suddenly fog? Why is it so dark outside? Are the streetlights broken?” Meng Lei frowned, looking around anxiously from the driver’s seat.

He then noticed that not only were the streetlights gone, but the pedestrians had vanished without a trace.

The entire street was deserted, as if he were the only person left in the world.

Sensing something was wrong, Meng Lei intended to lock his car doors but, inexplicably, ended up opening one.

As soon as the door opened, a figure he had long missed appeared at the entrance.

He was momentarily stunned, looked up at the figure, and said dazedly, “Aya…”

At the same time, at the intersection.

The driver of a car following Meng Lei impatiently honked the horn. No matter how many times he honked, the man ahead didn’t move.

Frustrated, he rolled down the window and shouted at the Maybach in front, “Hey! What’s your problem? The green light’s almost gone! Hurry up! I’m in a rush to pick up my kid!”

The cars behind started honking incessantly, filling the intersection with a cacophony of horns.

But the person in the Maybach seemed deaf, showing no reaction.

“Hey! Damn you!” The impatient driver hit the steering wheel, rolled up his sleeves, and was about to get out to confront him.

Suddenly, the Maybach’s door opened, and Meng Lei’s tall figure stepped out.

The driver paused, intimidated by Meng Lei’s imposing stature. Was this guy coming to pick a fight before he even got the chance?

He didn’t dare get out, shouting through the window, “Hey, hey! You’re the one blocking the road! I—oh shit! Where are you going?!”

Before he finished, he saw Meng Lei turn sharply onto a side street.

At that moment, a large truck was making a turn.

Meng Lei suddenly walked into its path. The truck driver had no time to brake and crashed straight into him.

Screams of shock erupted from onlookers. The timid covered their eyes, unable to watch what was about to happen.

In the nick of time, a black object fell from above, striking Meng Lei’s abdomen heavily.

The immense force sent Meng Lei flying backward, crashing heavily into the open door of the Maybach.

“Bang!!”

The screeching sound of brakes filled the air. The truck stopped just inches away from disaster.

Inside the car, Meng Lei suddenly heard a sharp, high-pitched cry. The figure and white fog before his eyes quickly dispersed, and the silence was replaced by loud, chaotic noise.

He lay sprawled in the passenger seat, a small square red coffin resting on his abdomen, feeling dazed.

What had just happened?

Bystanders and drivers were stunned.

“What the hell just flew by?”

“Is that guy still alive?”

The driver of the car following the Maybach quickly got out to check on Meng Lei. “Hey! Big guy, are you okay?”

At the same time, Meng Qinian, still carrying Nan Yuanman, pushed through the traffic and arrived at Meng Lei’s car. Before reaching, he shouted loudly, “Old man! Are you still alive? Don’t die on me! You haven’t even made your will yet!”

Meng Lei’s forehead twitched with a vein bulging. Not fully understanding what had happened, he smiled apologetically at the other driver. “I’m fine, thanks for your concern.”

He then realized his car was stopped right in the middle of the intersection, blocking the road completely, with the door still open!

Hurriedly, Meng Lei closed the door and pulled over to the roadside. Seeing he was okay, the other driver got back in and left.

The road, blocked for nearly half an hour, finally cleared.

The truck driver also pulled over and came to discuss the incident with Meng Lei.

Meng Lei pinched the bridge of his nose and called his assistant to handle the matter.

After the call, he looked at the small coffin beside him with a puzzled expression.

What on earth was going on?

He got out of the car holding the coffin just as Meng Qinian arrived with Nan Yuanman still in his arms.

Seeing Meng Lei’s healthy limbs, Meng Qinian breathed a heavy sigh of relief but didn’t offer kind words.

“If you want to die in the future, remember to make a will first before you go.”

He definitely didn’t want the Meng family fortune to fall into the hands of that mother and son pair.

Meng Lei was so annoyed by his words he nearly fell backward, pointing at him, “You brat! Can’t you say something nice for once? You—”

He was about to curse when his gaze met Nan Yuanman’s in Meng Qinian’s arms.

The words on his lips instantly died away. He froze for a moment, glared furiously at Meng Qinian, and raised his voice, “You little—You, Meng Qinian! Where did you pick up this kid from?!”
