Chapter 38 I Am About to Lose My Temper Now
Today is a momentous occasion for the Ling Clan. As the premier noble family, the Ling Clan has developed numerous secret realms over the years, each serving as a treasure trove and a training ground for its disciples.
Under the scorching sun, large groups of disciples gathered in queues at the martial arts arenas across the various peaks of the Ling Clan. They were high-spirited and filled with arrogance, brimming with the reckless enthusiasm of youth and endless fantasies about the future.
"I heard this secret realm was only just developed."
"That’s what they say. New realms hold more unknown resources. I have acquaintances in the inner clan who mentioned that this training is divided into two parts: one for Qi Sea Realm disciples and one for Yuan Transformation Realm disciples. The realm will be open for seven days. If you can obtain treasures within to improve yourself, not only will those treasures belong to you, but the clan will also grant corresponding rewards based on your individual growth."
"That sounds amazing! But everyone should be careful once inside. The more recently developed a secret realm is, the more unknown dangers it holds."
"What is there to fear? Wealth is sought in danger. Without life-or-death duels, how can one grow? Besides, in every annual training session held by the Ling Clan, people die, but there are also those who gain massive benefits and soar to the heavens."
...
The greatest virtue of the young is their daring—to think and to act. They possess ideals, ambitions, high expectations for the future, drive, and fighting spirit. These were the basic traits of anyone chosen by the Ling Clan to be an outer-clan disciple.
Boom!
High above the mountain peak, several fathoms into the void, a sound like a thunderclap suddenly erupted. Immediately after, the void trembled, rippling like water, and a portal appeared. The void gate hovered above the peak, flickering with mottled, iridescent light.
Pairs of eyes instantly grew fervent; the gate to the secret realm had been opened. A figure appeared in the void—an elder in a green robe with the cultivation of the peak Yuan Transformation Realm, only a step away from the Heaven Yuan Realm. Standing beside the void gate, he announced loudly, "The secret realm training begins now. All participants, enter within half an incense stick’s time. The training duration is seven days. After seven days, the gate will open again."
No sooner had the elder finished speaking than figures leaped from the martial arts arena, charging toward the void gate with hot blood and fighting spirit. Among the outer-clan crowd, no one noticed that someone had appeared out of nowhere. On the inner-clan side, there were separate void gates, all of which were now open, leading into the realm.
Lin Hao blended into the crowd of outer-clan disciples and successfully entered the void gate. The force of the space pulled at his body with immense strength. He felt a flash of multicolored light, and the next moment, he appeared amidst a vast mountain range.
He stood still and looked around. Rolling mountains stretched out into the distance, and the air was thick with the aura of beasts. High-pitched roars echoed from the deep mountains, creating a chilling atmosphere.
"Is this the secret realm developed by the Ling Clan? It’s practically an independent space," Lin Hao murmured, sighing in amazement.
But then, he remembered his one million units of currency. He shook his arm, pulled out that ragged, broken sword, and began shaking it violently in his hand.
"You son of a bitch, get out here!"
Lin Hao shook it vigorously, "I'll shake you to death, I'll shake you dizzy, I'll shake you until you vomit, and spit out my Origin Stones!"
"Hey buddy, are you having a breakdown?"
A voice rang out from nearby. Lin Hao stopped and looked up to see a young man walking toward him. The youth looked at the broken sword in Lin Hao's hand and let out a scoff, "Where did you find that piece of junk? Your behavior just now looked exactly like an idiot's."
"Alone?"
Lin Hao looked at the youth and then scanned his surroundings; no one else was in sight.
"Yeah, so what?" The youth shrugged.
"That makes it easy then."
As soon as Lin Hao finished speaking, he lunged forward, raised the broken sword, and pressed it directly against the youth’s shoulder. "Hand over all the Origin Stones you have."
The youth was stunned, looking at Lin Hao as if he were a monster. "Robbery?"
"Exactly. Robbery," Lin Hao nodded.
"Are you out of your mind? I just got here, I haven't even found a single thing, and you're robbing me? You, a mere fourth-stage Qi Sea Realm cultivator, holding a broken piece of iron, trying to rob me, a sixth-stage Qi Sea Realm cultivator?" The youth was so angry he laughed. He had just arrived and already encountered an idiot.
In the Ling Clan’s secret realm training, robbery was common, but it usually happened toward the end of the session. Everyone had just arrived; nobody had anything yet. What was there to rob?
"Yes, robbery. I only want Origin Stones. Take them out, or I’ll beat you to death," Lin Hao said.
"I think you're looking for death."
The youth flew into a rage, his internal energy surging. A sharp sword appeared in his hand, and he prepared to strike at Lin Hao.
*Splat!*
Unfortunately, he was too slow. The moment the sword appeared in his hand, Lin Hao had already severed his head. Though the sword was broken, it depended on whose hand it was in; cutting down a sixth-stage Qi Sea Realm cultivator was no different from slicing a watermelon.
"I told you, if you didn't take them out, I'd beat you to death."
Lin Hao rummaged through the man’s clothes, found a storage bag, and tucked it away. Then, he lit a fire and burned the corpse to ashes. Having made a score the moment he entered the realm, regardless of the haul, it felt great!
Lin Hao didn't even blink while killing a Ling Clan disciple. In his eyes, even the dogs of the Ling Clan were his enemies.
As Lin Hao trekked through the mountains, he kept swinging the sword in his hand.
*Roar!*
A wild roar erupted from ahead, followed by a surge of powerful demonic energy. A lion covered in cyan light jumped out from somewhere, blocking Lin Hao’s path. The lion’s eyes were filled with malice, its fangs bared as it glared at Lin Hao, saliva dripping from its mouth.
"It thinks I'm food."
Lin Hao was speechless. This was his first time seeing a demonic beast in the true sense, but judging by its aura, the cyan lion was likely around the seventh or eighth stage of the Qi Sea Realm.
"Ling Wu said the beast's demonic core is also a treasure. Little lion, you’re unlucky to have met me."
With that, Lin Hao leaped up, raised the broken sword high, and brought it down directly on the lion’s head. He was incredibly fast; the lion didn't even have a chance to react before the broken sword smashed into its skull.
*Bang!*
The lion’s head shattered like a rotten watermelon, and a cyan demonic core popped out.
Seeing this, Lin Hao was overjoyed. It was his first time killing a beast and his first time seeing a demonic core. He was filled with curiosity and had to examine it.
The demonic core flew high into the air, and Lin Hao instinctively reached out with his broken sword to catch it. However, the moment the sword touched the core, it vanished.
Yes, it disappeared, without a trace.
"What the...!"
The next moment, a piercing scream echoed through the mountains.
"Damn it! This is too much! If you have the guts, come out and face me!"
Lin Hao completely broke down. He was on the verge of going crazy; he plunged the broken sword into the ground and began to curse at it. Is this something a person would do? It had just eaten his million Origin Stones, and now, after he had finally killed a beast, it had eaten the demonic core before he could even get a look at it.
The broken sword remained silent and indifferent.
"Playing dead, are you? Damn it, don't force me to get nasty!" Lin Hao threatened, his finger trembling as he pointed at the sword.
Still no movement; not even the slightest reaction.
"Fine, fine, fine. You forced my hand. I'm going to lose it now!"
Lin Hao, truly annoyed, stood before the broken sword and began to undo his belt, intending to unleash a storm of filth upon it.
"You like to eat, don't you? I'll let you have your fill!"
Seeing that Lin Hao was serious, the broken sword finally reacted. A bolt of white light erupted from within it.
"Wah-ha-ha-ha..."
An obscene laugh echoed through the mountains. The white light transformed into a silhouette, which gradually solidified, landing a few fathoms away from Lin Hao.
