Chapter 35: Hurry and Eat, Find a Comfortable Position to Tie Up
“Um... could I use the bathroom?” Jiang Ying was visibly restless.
She had been tied up for almost four hours now and truly couldn’t hold it any longer.
Lin Mu frowned. “You need to use the bathroom again?”
What kind of question was that?
Jiang Ying stared at him wide-eyed. She was human—how could she not need to use the bathroom?
“But there’s no bathroom here. Can’t you just hold it a bit longer?” Lin Mu said, puzzled that after so many vehicle upgrades, a bathroom still hadn’t appeared.
“Please, let me go. I really can’t hold it anymore.” Jiang Ying felt as if her bladder was about to burst.
“001, untie her. Accompany her outside so she can relieve herself,” Lin Mu ordered with a wave of his hand.
“Yes, Master.”
Jiang Ying was dumbfounded. Go outside? It was minus seventy-five degrees out there—wouldn’t she freeze solid just trying to pee?
“Hurry up. I still have things to do after dinner.”
“I can just go behind the car. Could you give me something to use?” she pleaded.
Lin Mu raised an eyebrow. She wanted to do it inside the car? Wasn’t that a bit much?
“How long do you think it would take for the smell to go away?” he retorted. Only he was allowed to use the car’s interior for such things—nobody else.
Jiang Ying sighed. Fine, outside it would be. She’d just have to be quick.
She took some tissue from Lin Mu, then followed 001 outside, found a spot, and squatted down.
She had thought of escaping, but without a vehicle, there was nowhere she could run.
Three minutes later, she hurried back into the car, her cheeks bright red from the cold. Minus seventy-five degrees was simply inhumane.
Once inside, Lin Mu didn’t tie her up immediately. Instead, he pulled out two family buckets, handing one over to her.
“Hurry up and eat. When you’re done, choose a comfortable position and I’ll tie you up again.”
Jiang Ying’s lips twitched. Couldn’t this man have a shred of pity for a woman? She had no weapons—was all this necessary?
She’d given up on trying to escape, yet he was still intent on tying her up. Wasn’t that going a bit too far?
Lin Mu, oblivious to her thoughts, only cared about safety. Tying her up was the safest option.
Staring at the hemp rope reappearing on her body, Jiang Ying gave up, lying back on the floor at the rear of the vehicle.
Slowly, she inched herself closer to the heater. It wasn’t so bad—food, drink, and a warm room.
By the time they finished eating, it was already six in the evening. Lin Mu, unwilling to waste time, quickly started the vehicle and continued searching for supplies.
Barely half an hour later, they encountered a small sedan. Lin Mu’s eyes lit up and he stomped on the gas, ramming straight into it.
Bang!
Jiang Ying, who was lying on the floor, tumbled over and hit the heater.
“Ah!” she shrieked, rolling away and glancing back at her rear. Thankfully, she hadn’t gotten burned.
Her sudden outcry startled Lin Mu. “What are you yelling for? You nearly gave me a heart attack!”
Jiang Ying felt wronged. He had tied her up—did he really have a right to complain? But she dared not say that aloud, afraid this blunt man might kill her.
Lin Mu turned his attention to the sedan. He hooked it with a spear, floored the gas, and crashed straight into a wall of snow.
The car ahead tried to turn, but no matter what it did, it couldn’t escape.
Bang!
Another impact left the car wedged tightly in place.
Lin Mu threw on a jacket, grabbed his handgun, and jumped out.
Jiang Ying looked up. “I wonder who the unlucky soul is this time. Will he kill them, or bring them back?”
Outside, Lin Mu pointed his gun at the man inside. “Get out.”
The man with gold-rimmed glasses smiled amiably. “Hey, we’re both from Huaguo. Is this really necessary?”
“Don’t. Even if we’re both from Huaguo, this is a survival game. Get out now and we can talk. If my hand slips in this cold, don’t blame me if something happens.”
The man’s lips twitched. Was this guy for real?
He didn’t dare gamble, so he obediently got out and stood to the side.
Lin Mu gathered up the spoils and brought the man back into the vehicle.
“001, tie him up too,” Lin Mu commanded, tossing a length of iron chain—he only had one rope.
“Zhao Mingwei?” Jiang Ying asked uncertainly, mostly because his flattened hair made him hard to recognize.
Zhao Mingwei looked up and saw another bound person. “Jiang Ying? You got caught too?”
Jiang Ying was surprised it really was this scumbag. She snorted and turned away, refusing to look at him.
Lin Mu glanced at the two, then asked Jiang Ying, “You know this guy?”
He hadn’t expected the two random people he’d picked up would actually know each other. How amusing.
“He’s just a scumbag—a master at deceiving women, dating six at once and calling himself a time management expert. In the company, he’s a bootlicker. In short, not a good person.”
Lin Mu looked at Zhao Mingwei in surprise. He hadn’t thought this scholarly man with gold-rimmed glasses was such a player.
Dating six women at once—now that was impressive.
Hearing Jiang Ying expose all his secrets, Zhao Mingwei began to panic. Was this man going to kill him?
But Lin Mu wasn’t interested in romantic affairs. If they were on Blue Star, perhaps he’d ask for advice, but here, a comfortable life was all he cared about.
The vehicle continued on.
Lin Mu didn’t bother mounting Zhao Mingwei’s car onto his own for modifications. Instead, he dumped it straight into the rear waste processor.
That kind of sedan wouldn’t improve his vehicle by much anyway; better to break it down for materials.
At this point, he had four level-one vehicle cores and two level-two ones—just enough to upgrade the core.
He opened the vehicle core interface and clicked upgrade.
[Vehicle core upgraded to Lv5. Capacity: 5 people. Backpack space +200.]
[Vehicle Core]
[Level: Lv5]
[Capacity: 5 people]
[Upgrade requirement: one Lv5 core or equivalent vehicle cores]
Not bad—an extra 200 slots in the backpack.
With a higher capacity, did that mean he could catch—no, “find”—two more people?
Just then, a resource chest vault appeared before him.
“Whew, luck’s really on my side this time—it’s right in front of me.”
Lin Mu quickly drove the vehicle inside.
A chime sounded from the speakers.
[Ding~ Recycled 21 wooden resource chests, obtained 157 units of timber.]
Lin Mu glanced at the dashboard—the second batch of wooden chests had been recycled. Today promised a huge haul.
As for the rest of the notifications, he didn’t bother to look; his main task was to find people and resource chests.
Thud!
[Congratulations, you opened a silver resource chest: received 60 iron ingots, 60 liters of gasoline, and fifteen 500ml bottles of mineral water.]
Triple rewards—perfect!
