Chapter 125: Overflowing with Positive Energy
Jiang Yao sometimes felt a sense of solitude.
Because of her condition, the world she saw was visible only to her; others could not perceive it. She walked back on her own, silently pondering everything that had happened recently, until she nearly collided with the person standing at the entrance of the villa.
"Hey, Jiang Yao."
Jiang Yao was momentarily stunned, but then it seemed logical. Jin Nana. She cared so deeply for He Yunqing that she was bound to come once she knew he was in trouble.
Jin Nana looked Jiang Yao up and down, her gaze finally landing on the breakfast in Jiang Yao's hand. "Are you here to see Yunqing, too?"
Jiang Yao steadied herself and simply shoved the breakfast into Jin Nana's hands. "I have other things to attend to, so I won't go up. Since you're here, why don't you take this to him?"
Her current status was that of Cheng Yanchi's girlfriend. Naturally, she had to keep her distance from He Yunqing—not just to protect one another, but to respect the reputation of the Cheng family.
"Hey, wait..." Jin Nana watched as Jiang Yao turned to leave, then looked down at the breakfast in her hands. "What is this supposed to mean!"
"Jiang Yao, Jiang Yao..." Jin Nana called out to her again.
Jiang Yao turned back. "Is there something else?"
Jin Nana looked helpless. "I don't know why my father likes you so much. Since New Year's Day is coming up, he told me to invite you to our house for dinner."
"Huh?" Jiang Yao was surprised. "Me? I think I'd better pass."
New Year's Day was a time for families to reunite. Why should she, an outsider with no connection to them, go and join in?
"Right? That's what I said too," Jin Nana pouted. "But my father said if I could bring you, he'd buy me the latest model sports car this year. Jiang Yao, I don't care; you have to go for the sake of my sports car."
"And if I refuse?"
"Then I'll drag you there if I have to." Jin Nana’s bright eyes blinked, half-joking.
Jiang Yao smiled helplessly. "Fine, then come and drag me." Although Jin Nana had the temperament of a spoiled heiress, it was impossible to truly dislike her; in fact, Jiang Yao found her rather endearing.
When Jin Nana entered, He Yunqing was already awake.
As the man saw Jin Nana, a flicker of confusion crossed his eyes, as if he were struggling to recall the events of the previous night.
"Last night, it was you..."
Jin Nana placed the breakfast on the table in front of He Yunqing. "As much as I’d love to say I took care of you all night, I'm sorry to say, it wasn't me." As she spoke, she pointed to the breakfast. "And this breakfast? I didn't buy that for you either."
He Yunqing’s gaze fell upon the breakfast bag. A flash of memory crossed his mind: the image of himself kissing Jiang Yao the night before.
"Where did she go?"
Jin Nana slumped into a chair. "She went off to do what she had to do, obviously. Brother Yunqing, you didn't even ask how I managed to get up so early to see you?" Jin Nana loved to sleep in and never rose early.
He Yunqing reached out and patted Jin Nana on the head. "Have you had breakfast? Let's eat together."
Jin Nana spread her hands. "Brother Yunqing, even though I didn't look after you or buy you breakfast, I can talk to my dad. It's just an actress, right? A little money from my father should settle it."
"Is sexual harassment something that can be settled so easily?" After the events of the night, He Yunqing had returned to his usual nonchalant demeanor, speaking with a touch of irony.
"Of course it can't, but the point is, you didn't do it," Jin Nana leaned over his desk, tilting her head to look at him. "A rich and beautiful girl like me has been hovering around you since we were kids, and you never harassed me. Why would you harass her?"
He Yunqing couldn't help but chuckle, reaching out to flick Jin Nana on the forehead. "Hurry up and eat."
After leaving He Yunqing's place, Jiang Yao headed straight to work at the wedding planning firm. The more she thought about it on the way, the more wrong it felt.
What was the actress, Feng Xiao, aiming for by framing He Yunqing? Money? She should have negotiated directly instead of letting the situation spiral. Fame? Being involved in a scandal like this wasn't exactly flattering, especially since she had explicitly stated in her whistleblowing video that she would retire from the entertainment industry forever...
The whole thing felt as if someone were intentionally splashing mud on He Yunqing to destroy him completely. Did the other side have other tricks up their sleeve?
Jiang Yao felt her head spinning. She already had enough trouble with her own mind without having to deal with these complex issues. She rubbed her temples as she walked into the office.
The moment she stepped inside, she heard a group of colleagues gathered together, chattering about He Yunqing.
"Did you hear? He Yunqing's sexual harassment scandal has been exposed."
"Who hasn't heard of such a huge thing? It's still trending on social media. You'd think he'd spend money to get it taken down."
"He definitely spent money, but it’s just too explosive. Related tags keep popping up."
"I really didn't expect it. He looks so handsome; I can't believe he would do something like that."
"These days, there are so many wolves in sheep's clothing. Didn't our company work with him before? We really couldn't tell at the time."
"Oh, don't even mention it. A person like that—bad luck."
"He Yunqing was framed!" Jiang Yao was so incensed that the words slipped out before she could stop them.
The crowd’s gaze shifted toward Jiang Yao in unison. The office fell silent for three seconds.
"Oh, you say that as if you know him," someone remarked, breaking the silence.
Others immediately chimed in, "Yeah, exactly."
"I *do* know him!" Jiang Yao gritted her teeth.
"How do you know him? Do you actually know him personally?" the person challenged.
"I..."
Xie Yan, who was sitting nearby, reached out to pull her back. "A-Yao, that’s enough."
Jiang Yao finally sat down at her desk and slammed her bag onto the table. "What is wrong with these people? They used to hold He Yunqing on a pedestal and were all dying to throw themselves at him, and now that there are a few rumors, they’re all kicking him while he’s down!"
Xie Yan tilted her head. "A-Yao, you can't blame them. Sexual harassment is a sensitive topic. And... these days, bad people don't have 'bad' written on their foreheads. Even handsome people make mistakes, and you really don't know him that well..."
Jiang Yao pressed her lips together and remained silent.
"It's a good thing I wasn't a fan of He Yunqing, or my heart would be broken right now," Xie Yan said with a smile. "Our Luo Yixian is much better; he’s full of positive energy."
Positive energy?
Jiang Yao snorted coldly. She hesitated, wondering whether she should tell Xie Yan the truth, though she knew Xie Yan probably wouldn't believe her anyway.
Wait. Luo Yixian?
Suddenly, a thought flashed through Jiang Yao's mind.
