Chapter Eleven: The R-Rank King of Parasites
Jiang Wanwan instantly recalled the humiliating scene from earlier that day. Her cheeks flushed red with shame and fury, and her murderous gaze shot toward Jiang Wangshu. "So it was you after all."
The three examinees already disliked Jiang Wangshu, and seeing their admired female companion bullied like this only fueled their resentment. The examinee closest to Jiang Wangshu, Number One, stuck out his foot to trip her. If he succeeded, given the pace of their advance, she would be exposed outside the formation, causing a flaw that would allow the parasitic beasts to swarm in.
A bunch of fools!
A sharp chill flashed through Jiang Wangshu’s heart. She channeled the spiritual energy path she had learned today down to her feet.
"Ah!" Examinee Number One cried out in pain, nearly falling over. Jiang Wangshu steadied him, withdrew her hand, and cast a cold glance at Jiang Wanwan and the others.
"Look at the situation clearly! Our lives are at stake. If you keep playing games, you’ll die and that’ll be that."
Number One hopped on his foot, hissing in pain, but still spat out harsh words. "So what if we lose a useless one like you! I’m already at the fifth stage of Qi Refinement—more than enough to deal with you at the first stage."
His eyes were full of disdain. Though the woman before him radiated spiritual energy, its density was so low that even his nine-year-old cousin surpassed her. Despite the setback he just suffered, he didn’t believe she was any threat. Probably just focused on physical training due to insufficient spiritual power. As long as he stayed wary, she could do nothing to him.
Thinking this, Number One launched a fierce attack, aiming straight for Jiang Wangshu’s heart meridian.
The other two examinees also disapproved of Jiang Wangshu, casting sidelong glances, eager to see her make a fool of herself.
"A first-stage Qi Refiner dares to brag—how laughable."
"She’s ignorant of her own limits. Brother Ni should teach her a lesson."
Jiang Wanwan was elated; fate had handed her the opportunity effortlessly. At the same time, she sent a burst of spiritual power toward Jiang Wangshu’s ankle, sharp enough to slice flesh and bone.
Jiang Wangshu’s brows showed naked impatience. She was not the delicate original owner. Before transmigrating, she had escaped from a pack of predatory relatives—she had plenty of tricks up her sleeve.
She chopped down Number One’s hand and, twisting his arm, flung him outward. Her legs pushed off the ground; she leapt, kicking Jiang Wanwan squarely in the chest.
The two felt their vision blur and suddenly found themselves thrown outside the formation. The stench of parasitic beasts hit them in the face. They landed with screams, scrambling to escape, their figures swallowed by the beast horde in the blink of an eye.
Everything happened in a flash. The two remaining examinees were dumbfounded.
"You… you killed them…" one stammered.
Jiang Wangshu swept her gaze over them. "Do you want to go out as well?"
The two shook like leaves, quickly shaking their heads. What a joke! Even Brother Ni at the fifth stage of Qi Refinement had been tossed out. They were only at the third and fourth stages—what heroes could they be?
Jiang Wangshu split her spiritual energy into three, filling the positions left by Jiang Wanwan and Number One.
Suddenly, the Credit System shrieked, "Something’s wrong! Host, the R-Class Beast King is heading your way!"
Jiang Wangshu raised her mental defenses, scanning the surroundings. "Where?"
"On your left!" The Credit System nearly screeched its circuits.
She quickly stepped right, suppressing the dizzying roar in her ears, and glanced left.
A frail-looking girl glanced at her apologetically. "Sorry to startle you. I’m Wu Rousha."
Jiang Wangshu stared at the girl, at a loss. She was as thin as a reed, as if a breeze could blow her away. What could a Beast King possibly do in such a body?
The Credit System urged, "Host, this is her true form! Her true form!"
Jiang Wangshu gulped hard.
Disaster! Outside was the horde of parasitic beasts, inside was the Beast King. What now?
She urgently called out to the system in her mind: "Isn’t the Northern Star Array supposed to destroy all demons and monsters? How did she slip in?"
It wasn’t her fault for panicking—according to the original owner's memories, there were fewer than ten shape-shifting monsters nationwide, all top-tier.
The Credit System's voice trembled, "Host, look."
A faint white glow covered her vision, but the world remained unchanged. Only the girl before her was no longer frail and harmless. Her body was covered in red beast eggs. Scarlet eyes shimmered with cunning light.
Wu Rousha cast a glance around.
Goosebumps prickled Jiang Wangshu’s skin; a chill surged up from her heart.
All around, each person’s body was infested with at least a dozen beast eggs—black and red, clinging like tumors. Some were almost fully fused, some had only a sliver of black left, ready to finish merging.
At the head of the line, Huo Jinyu and Zou Xiuzhen had the most, nearly submerged in beast eggs.
Jiang Wangshu looked down at herself. Wonderful—her left arm was covered, the skin invisible beneath a dense mass.
Only the Credit System could sense it, rage rising: anger +100, anger value +100…
Wu Rousha blinked innocently. "What’s wrong, classmate?"
Jiang Wangshu took a deep breath and forced a wide smile. "I absolutely adore you!"
Ahhh! No matter what kind of Beast King this was, attacking her with such a concentrated assault—she’d risk her life to kill her.
She flung her arms wide and hugged Wu Rousha tightly.
Wu Rousha froze, and the fingers behind Jiang Wangshu’s waist tapped lightly.
A sound-amplifying rune shot into the sky.
"The R-Class Beast King is here! We’ve been parasitized! Scatter at once!"
Everyone was stunned.
Huo Jinyu and Zou Xiuzhen reflexively looked toward Jiang Wangshu at the end of the line.
They saw Jiang Wangshu hugging Wu Rousha with all her might.
Wu Rousha’s silvery laughter rang out. "I didn’t expect anyone could see through my true form! You’re quite impressive!"
She lifted Jiang Wangshu’s chin with a finger, scratching it like a pet.
In the blink of an eye, bubble-like beast eggs spread from her chin to cover Jiang Wangshu’s entire face.
The Credit System trembled, showing Jiang Wangshu her current appearance. "Host…"
Jiang Wangshu froze for a moment, fury surging.
She clenched her teeth until they rattled. "You really are something."
Wu Rousha seemed unconcerned, but suddenly her brows furrowed. She couldn’t break free!
Everyone was horrified and retreated.
"Ahhh! Monster!"
"R-Class Beast King! Are we even going to survive?"
The formation broke as their steps faltered.
With terror, they realized each other's bodies were covered in beast eggs.
Someone collapsed on the spot, spiritual energy in chaos, self-destructing.
Someone ran madly for the exit. "I want to go home! I want to go home…"
Someone cried hysterically. "I’m still young, I don’t want to die… sob sob sob…"
Wu Rousha smiled with satisfaction, leaning gently against Jiang Wangshu. "See? Isn’t it beautiful?"
Beast eggs piled up on Jiang Wangshu at a terrifying rate.
Huo Jinyu and Zou Xiuzhen looked at each other, panic rising in their hearts.
But seeing Jiang Wangshu…
They paused, their gaze dropping quickly to her steady figure. In unspoken agreement, they thought:
If the expert doesn’t panic, neither will we!
After all, they still had faces to show.
The expert didn’t even have a face left.
They dashed toward Jiang Wangshu.
