Chapter Two: The Forbidden Grounds of the School
The spirit transformed into a frigid current, passing through Han Tianyue’s body. Once again, Han Tianyue lost all sensation. When he regained consciousness, he found himself completely shrouded in darkness.
Han Tianyue sensed danger, but as he tried to get up, he felt unexpectedly light. “You wicked ghost, what have you done to me?”
The spirit appeared before Han Tianyue again, smiling kindly and benevolently. “You little rascal, I just saved your life, yet you’re still so fierce!”
Han Tianyue hurriedly checked himself. His flesh and blood were intact, which allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief. But soon he became wary again. “Why would this ghost save me? There must be something behind this!”
“Let’s make a deal,” the spirit proposed, as expected. Drifting closer, the spirit produced a frosted heart from its palm and said, “This is an Ice Heart, beneficial to your Ice Soul. Take this as a deposit. If you succeed, I have many more to give you.”
Now in the spirit’s grasp, Han Tianyue dared not refuse outright. He pretended to consider as he accepted the Ice Heart, asking, “What do you want from me?”
“I need you to help me retrieve my body,” the spirit replied, pointing to a crystal orb before them. “My body is imprisoned within this crystal globe. As long as you can find a way to take it out of here, not only will I give you all my Ice Hearts, but I’ll also teach you even more powerful ice spells.”
“That does sound tempting,” Han Tianyue feigned interest, moving as if to take the crystal orb.
The spirit hurriedly stopped him. “There’s no rush. What you see here is merely an illusion. Retrieving it won’t be easy. When you’ve made up your mind, return to this place, and I’ll lead you to the real crystal orb.”
A cold sweat broke out across Han Tianyue’s back. His impulsive gesture just now was rare for him. After all, a crystal globe that imprisoned the spirit’s body must be a powerful artifact, certainly surrounded by countless traps. Triggering them would be dangerous enough even in perfect health, let alone while still injured. Now that he knew it was only an illusion, Han Tianyue relaxed a little. “Very well. Once I’ve recovered, I’ll return to find you.”
The spirit smiled faintly and vanished into the air.
When all was calm again, Han Tianyue finally let out a breath. The Ice Heart in his hand continued to nourish his body. “Is this really real?” Doubt lingered in his mind as he slipped the Ice Heart into his pocket.
“Isn’t this place supposed to be forbidden on campus?” Han Tianyue quickly left the room. The school had clear rules: anyone trespassing in the forbidden zone would be expelled. Though he didn’t yet know what connection the forbidden area had with the spirit, Han Tianyue had no intention of leaving the school because of it. The path that had been so confusing just moments ago was now perfectly clear, and Han Tianyue headed straight back to his dormitory.
