Lu Qingyan’s anger continued to simmer beneath the surface. These past few days, she had been troubled over the bracelet. Such a cherished piece of hers had been casually given away, and she simply couldn’t swallow that grievance. She even harbored a faint hope that Wang Lin might realize his mistake and apologize.

But unexpectedly, Tong Ying brought bad news. Tong Ying was the one most capable of taming Wang Lin, yet even she had been forced to give up her claims, apparently having been pressured into surrendering as well.

Seeing the despondent expression on Tong Ying’s face, it seemed she had lost out too. This left Lu Qingyan both shocked and confused. Could it be true, as the rumors said?

Had Wang Lin been possessed by another soul, causing his personality to change so drastically? Once, he had been devoted to the senior sisters he cherished most, but now he treated them with disdain.

This was something Lu Qingyan could not accept. The once loyal and devoted Wang Lin was now cold enough to discard her.

The value of that bracelet was obvious. Yet, perhaps even Lu Qingyan hadn’t realized that Wang Lin had secured a place in her heart. The more she thought about it, the more alarmed she became, quickly shaking these thoughts from her mind.

Just as she was about to speak again, her gaze caught sight of a figure approaching.

Senior Sister Yu Rumu came forward, her expression cold and brows furrowed, clearly displeased.

In their experience, Senior Sister had always been gentle and warm, her face often lit with a smile. What could be troubling her now?

“Senior Sister.”

Tong Ying obediently stood and bowed. She dared not be disrespectful before this senior sister.

Though Yu Rumu seemed kind on the surface, when truly angered, she was the most fearsome among them.

Yu Rumu said nothing, simply sat beside them and coldly swept her gaze over the two.

Lu Qingyan felt puzzled, recalling that she hadn’t offended the senior sister. Tong Ying was stunned, unable to respond.

“Senior Sister, is something troubling you recently?”

Yu Rumu answered coldly:

“There’s no trouble outside, but things at home have become increasingly unsettled.”

Lu Qingyan stiffened, instantly understanding the allusion in her words. She frowned and said, “Then it’s Wang Lin who has wronged me so gravely. If you want to hold someone accountable, he should be the first!”

Yu Rumu glared at Lu Qingyan but said nothing.

Tong Ying, seeing Wang Lin named, quickly tried to fan the flames: “Exactly! It’s outrageous. He even brought Yuwen Yue to chase me all the way to the Beast Arena. Outsiders bullying me—Senior Sister, you must intervene!”

She stepped forward and lightly shook Yu Rumu’s hand.

Yu Rumu’s glare had been fixed on Lu Qingyan, and now, stirred by Tong Ying’s interruption, her anger deepened.

She slammed the table and shouted, “Silence! You two really think I’m easy to fool? Don’t you have any conscience about how you treat Junior Brother Wang?!”

Pointing at Lu Qingyan, she exploded, “You complain that Junior Brother Wang gave your bracelet away, but how have you treated him? And you still try to hide things from me now?”

Then she pushed Tong Ying aside, “How long have you been bullying Junior Brother Wang? How many times has he gone without his salary? And you dare say outsiders are bullying you? Isn’t your torment of Junior Brother Wang more than enough?”

“How many times have you taken his salary to buy your beast pets? How many times have you deceived him out of precious materials, wasting them recklessly on socializing and bribery—all at the expense of Junior Brother Wang’s resources?”

She glared fiercely at Tong Ying. Only today did she realize that Tong Ying had to use seductive spells to completely drain Junior Brother Wang.

“Not to mention the Black Water Pearls gifted by our master—how many drops have been used for his cultivation? How many have ended up in your hands? Don’t you know this? And you still dare to turn the blame back on me? I see now that I have been far too lenient with you!”

Tong Ying was overwhelmed by Yu Rumu’s fierce scolding. Her eyes reddened instantly, and she shrank back helplessly, blinking nervously with large, watery eyes. She whimpered for a moment but couldn’t speak.

Seeing her terrified expression, Yu Rumu hastily controlled her temper, looking at the trembling Tong Ying with a heavy sigh.

Today, she had truly lost her patience. She had spent so much time trying to discipline the sect, hoping to create a family-like harmony. Yet now, Lu Qingyan and Tong Ying—her beloved junior sisters—were the very source of such vile, twisted behavior, all directed at her precious junior brother. The thought pierced her heart.

What was worse, the troublesome Wei Tian would soon return. With her warlike nature, she would undoubtedly bully Junior Brother Wang again. But now, with his changed personality, Wei Tian’s relentless bullying would surely lead to further conflicts and strife. The mere thought gave Yu Rumu a headache.

Yet, Junior Brother’s transformation was largely due to the conduct of these junior sisters.

An eerie silence fell over the room, all of them burning with indignation inwardly.

Neither of the two had expected Senior Sister to explode at them on Wang Lin’s behalf, leaving them stunned.

Just then, the door gently opened, and Ye Chen walked in slowly.

The three quickly composed themselves, concealing any trace of their previous quarrel.

Ye Chen furrowed his brows. He had clearly heard a loud argument outside the door, so why did everything fall silent as soon as he entered?

He couldn’t help but feel surprised. Were they hiding something from him?

Before he could ask, Yu Rumu spoke first, her tone still calm and gentle: “Junior Brother Ye, you didn’t go find Master to train, but came up to the loft to rest?”

Ye Chen looked at Yu Rumu, his voice steady though his cheeks flushed slightly, betraying some earlier unease. He quickly explained, “Master has secluded herself recently. I didn’t want to disturb her, so I came here to rest.”

Seeing the cold atmosphere and their distracted expressions, he hurried to lighten the mood:

“The Ye family is holding a martial arts exhibition soon. My grandfather will personally demonstrate energy manipulation. I’ve reserved tickets for all of you senior sisters.”

A grandmaster in the late Transformation stage demonstrating personally was a rare opportunity. Tickets like these were priceless.

And now, Ye Chen was handing them out generously and effortlessly.

Instantly, smiles blossomed on the three faces.

Even the usually aloof Lu Qingyan couldn’t help but curve her lips into a faint smile, which caught Ye Chen’s attention.

Tong Ying cheered, “Thank you, Junior Brother Ye! Finally, some good news.”

Ye Chen smiled in return, pleased with the effect. Though he didn’t know what bad news they had just received, seeing their smiles told him his gesture had worked.

After all, in the world of cultivation, who wouldn’t want to grow stronger? No one would pass up such a chance.
