Chapter 28: Maneuvering Around Yu Zhiyuan
Jiang Yu let out a sigh, troubled by the situation.
“Mr. Yu, as you can see, I’m currently under intense scrutiny. It’s really not convenient for me to take action right now. This matter may have to wait a bit longer.”
There was a brief silence on the other end of the call, followed by Yu Zhiyuan’s restrained, cold laugh.
“Jiang Yu, let me be clear: if you keep dodging and making excuses, I won’t hesitate to use some methods to show you just how high the sky is and how deep the earth goes.”
Yu Zhiyuan was indeed a difficult person to deal with.
Jiang Yu pondered for a moment.
She couldn’t afford to offend him; otherwise, her career might really hit a dead end.
Especially since she’d already crossed Young Master Fu.
So difficult—truly difficult!
After weighing her options, she decided it was best to keep things steady for now.
“Mr. Yu, please don’t be angry. I failed to handle things properly. Tell me, how can I make it up to you?”
“In that case, let’s meet tonight. At the very least, we need to sign an agreement. Otherwise, I won’t let this go easily.”
Jiang Yu’s grip tightened slightly around her phone.
Even this mess required a contract? Surely there was another motive.
Forget it—she’d face whatever came her way.
He didn’t have the nerve to offend Young Master Fu, who stood behind her.
“Mr. Yu, why would I risk provoking you? It’s just a meeting—name the time.”
Yu Zhiyuan gave a cold snort, his tone softening slightly. “Tonight at seven, Suite 808 at the Nanhua Hotel. Don’t be late.”
“Alright, I’ll be there on time.”
After ending the call, Jiang Yu tossed her phone aside, the smile at her lips tinged with irony.
“Zhi Ning,” she called out.
Song Zhi Ning walked over from another room. “Yu, what’s wrong?”
“Tonight at seven, come with me to the Nanhua Hotel. Yu Zhiyuan wants to meet—probably nothing good.”
Jiang Yu stood up, her voice calm but guarded.
“Yu Zhiyuan?” Song Zhi Ning frowned. “Yu, he’s not exactly a benevolent type. Maybe you shouldn’t go?”
Jiang Yu sneered, “He’s not that bold. What he really wants is the connections I hold.”
Seven o’clock that evening.
Inside Suite 808 of the Nanhua Hotel, Yu Zhiyuan was already seated at the dining table, idly fiddling with his phone, impatience written on his face.
Outside the suite, Jiang Yu paused and spoke quietly to Song Zhi Ning behind her.
“Remember, if I don’t come out in half an hour, call Fu Boyun immediately. Don’t worry about anything else.”
Song Zhi Ning looked tense. “Yu, maybe I should go in with you?”
“No need.”
She could handle this kind of situation herself.
Pushing open the door to the suite, she stepped inside without hesitation, the door closing quietly behind her.
Inside the suite.
Yu Zhiyuan, already growing impatient, saw Jiang Yu enter. A hint of malice flashed in his eyes, but his lips curled into a false smile. “Miss Jiang, have you finished dragging your feet?”
Jiang Yu walked straight to the table and sat down, lowering her eyes, her voice subdued.
“Mr. Yu, I’m truly sorry. There’s been so much going on lately that I’ve delayed your plans. I didn’t mean to.”
Yu Zhiyuan gave a cold snort, setting his wine glass down, his gaze mocking.
“Jiang Yu, stop pretending. Do you think I’m a child? Every time it’s excuses and reasons.”
Jiang Yu looked up, her face weary. “Mr. Yu, I really have no choice. Fu Boyun’s eyes are fixed on me—I can’t deliver what you want.”
Yu Zhiyuan scoffed, his eyes full of scorn.
“Now you want to complain? Where were you before? I knew it—people like you are best at playing the victim, spinning everyone around in circles.”
Jiang Yu lowered her head in silence, her bitterness perfectly measured.
Yu Zhiyuan, a seasoned old hand, saw through Jiang Yu’s little tricks in an instant.
If he couldn’t get Shen Rongyin, then satisfying himself with this was still something.
To win over Fu Boyun’s woman was a deal worth making.
