Volume One, Chapter 12: A Masterful Technique
“Mei actually wants me to live with her?”
At that moment, Zhou Yang’s heart raced uncontrollably.
The thought of sharing a roof with such a stunning beauty filled his mind with vivid, enchanting images of everyday life.
But then he reconsidered—Tang Yumei was a married woman. Was it really appropriate for him to do this?
“Mei, will me living with you cause you any trouble?” Zhou Yang asked cautiously.
“You’re overthinking it!” Tang Yumei raised an eyebrow at him. “You’re my personal doctor now, so it’s more convenient for me if you stay nearby. That’s the main reason.”
“Besides, I’m just giving you a temporary place to settle. Once you find a suitable place in Pucheng District, you’ll have to move out.”
“Oh, I see!” Zhou Yang smiled awkwardly, realizing he had indeed jumped to conclusions.
“If that’s the case, I won’t be polite then,” he said, feeling more at ease now, simply treating Mei as his landlord.
Then he added, “Of course, I’ll pay rent on time while I’m staying with you.”
“Forget the rent,” Tang Yumei said. “You’re treating me for free, after all.”
“Ah, that’s true,” Zhou Yang scratched his head.
“By the way, Zhou Yang, didn’t you say my illness requires both Chinese herbal medicine and physiotherapy?” Tang Yumei asked. “How does the physiotherapy work?”
“It requires massage therapy,” Zhou Yang replied.
“Oh? How exactly?”
“I can demonstrate it for you now.”
“Great!”
Zhou Yang stepped forward and sat beside Tang Yumei, inhaling her pleasant scent, his mind momentarily unsettled. “Mei, find a comfortable position and lie down first.”
“Okay.”
Tang Yumei reclined effortlessly on the sofa.
“Therapeutic massage mainly focuses on unblocking your liver meridian. The liver meridian starts from the foot, runs along the inner side of the lower leg, passes the inside of the knee, and continues upward along the inner midline of the thigh…”
As Zhou Yang spoke, his hand reached out to measure along Tang Yumei’s body.
“Ah!” Tang Yumei gave a soft startled exclamation at his touch, then quickly covered her mouth and smiled, “Sorry, I overreacted. Please continue.”
Zhou Yang was equally excited inside but, as a doctor, he couldn’t afford distraction.
“The human meridian system is a vast circulation. The liver meridian ascends through the lower abdomen, intersects the Governing Vessel at the crown of the head, and then… Mei, please turn over.”
“Sure.”
Obediently, Tang Yumei turned onto her stomach on the sofa.
Zhou Yang continued, “The liver meridian descends from the back of the head, passes along the spine, the lumbar region, the hips, enters the inner thigh, and converges with the front pathway.”
Tang Yumei bit her lip softly, cheeks flushed. “This massage route you’ve described is quite comprehensive.”
“If it’s inconvenient for you, Mei, we can skip the physiotherapy, but the treatment may take longer.”
“Why wouldn’t I do it?” Tang Yumei’s lips curved into a seductive smile as she leaned softly against the sofa, eyes sparkling like silk. “Let’s start now.”
“All right,” Zhou Yang nodded.
He helped Tang Yumei change into comfortable clothes and relax prone on the sofa.
She even turned on some soothing music, instantly setting a perfect, tranquil atmosphere.
Then Zhou Yang began the acupressure massage, following the meridian points precisely.
Having learned traditional Chinese medicine from his grandfather and father since childhood, Zhou Yang’s grasp of meridian points was accurate, and his technique skillful.
After more than half an hour, the back treatment was complete, and Tang Yumei had fallen asleep on the sofa.
Zhou Yang didn’t have the heart to wake her. Besides, he hadn’t planned to proceed with the frontal massage—it was something Tang Yumei wouldn’t accept.
Gently covering her with an air-conditioned blanket, Zhou Yang quietly left her home.
...
Two days later, the much-anticipated Monday arrived, filling Zhou Yang with excitement.
He reported to the headquarters of EPS Group.
Standing before the grand entrance, gazing at the broad plaza adorned with flags fluttering in the breeze, Zhou Yang felt a surge of exhilaration.
He first went to the Human Resources department and met with the HR manager, Bai Jie.
After registration, Bai Jie directed him to report to Su Jing in the Marketing Department.
Su Jing was the Marketing Director, the national head of EPS Pharmaceuticals’ marketing division, and Zhou Yang’s immediate superior.
Finally, he was about to meet his boss!
Zhou Yang’s heart pounded with anticipation as he made his way to the marketing department on the eighth floor.
“Director Su is currently in a video conference. Please wait here,” said the cold assistant, Chen Xue, before returning to her tasks.
Zhou Yang settled into a corner, observing his surroundings.
The bright, polished office resembled a battlefield.
Several colleagues typed furiously, racing against time.
A woman with sharp short hair held a coffee cup, sketching marketing strategies before a whiteboard.
In a corner, a few people rolled up their sleeves, headset-clad, animatedly cheering, “Yeah! Boss Wang, the plan has been optimized!”
The clatter of keyboards, murmurs of discussion, the hum of printers, and the aroma of coffee mingled with the rustling of papers, creating a vibrant symphony.
The office air was charged with passion, igniting Zhou Yang’s enthusiasm.
“No wonder this is EPS Group’s vanguard team—their aura is truly formidable!” he thought.
What intrigued him most now was to discover what kind of extraordinary person Director Su Jing was, commanding such a powerful team.
After a while, Chen Xue approached, “Director Su’s meeting is over. She wants to see you in her office.”
“All right.”
Following the directions, Zhou Yang arrived at a frosted glass door, lightly tapping the words “Director’s Office.”
“Come in!” came a cold, proud voice from within.
Zhou Yang gently pushed open the door.
“Director Su, I’m Zhou Yang, the new sales representative reporting in,” he introduced himself, then glanced around the spacious desk.
A young woman sat behind the desk.
She wore a refined, inward-curled medium-length hairstyle, her features delicate and precise, a high nose bridge, a jawline sculpted like a blade, and a porcelain complexion as flawless as carved jade.
