Chapter 114: Freedom? It Has Been Gone for a Long Time.
Lin Mu was only just learning that coordinates even existed.
Jiang Han stared at him in astonishment. How could someone not know about coordinates?
“A convoy as powerful as yours should have radar, shouldn’t it? The coordinates are displayed in the lower-right corner of the radar.”
Lin Mu glanced at the radar inside the vehicle. Sure enough, there was a string of numbers there, extending to four decimal places.
He picked up the radio. “Convoy, halt your advance and await further instructions.”
The convoy slowly came to a stop, and Lin Mu informed Jiang Han of their current coordinates.
He then took thirty restraint collars from his backpack.
There were only a few vehicles, but the number of people was another matter.
Before long, a flash of light streaked past, and a convoy appeared not far from them.
“001, go make contact and have them put on the collars.”
There was no way Lin Mu was going to meet them face-to-face. He could not withstand firearms.
They could talk after he had confirmed they were safe.
“Yes, Master.”
001 took a bundle of restraint collars and climbed out of the vehicle, heading straight toward the newly arrived convoy.
Watching the distant convoy, Jiang Han finally relaxed. At last, he had escaped that place.
He had no idea why his luck had been so terrible. There had been people everywhere he looked.
There had been nowhere to run.
Anyone who saw him wanted to stab him. It was simply absurd.
“Captain, a woman is coming over. What should we do?”
“What do you mean, what should we do? Everyone stay put and keep quiet. If you want to survive, then listen to me.”
Jiang Han’s eyes were filled with warning.
At a time like this, anyone who caused him trouble would be dealt with permanently.
“But if we put those things on, won’t we lose our freedom?” the man asked miserably.
At present, they could do whatever they wanted. Once they put on the collars, however, their restrictions would multiply.
Jiang Han let out a mocking laugh.
“Freedom? Tell me, what exactly is freedom? Can you even go back now? I’m telling you, the moment we entered this game, we lost our freedom!”
He seriously wondered whether these people had any brains.
And they were still talking to him about freedom? That had been gone for a long time!
Everyone fell silent. It seemed he had a point.
In that case, putting on the collars was not entirely unacceptable.
By then, 001 had reached Jiang Han.
“You’re in charge of them, aren’t you? Will you put the collars on yourselves, or would you like me to do it for you?”
At the sound of 001’s cool, emotionless voice, Jiang Han shifted uneasily.
But he had no choice except to put one on.
What a miserable feeling. He felt like a dog now, with only a leash missing.
“We’ll do it ourselves.”
There were twenty-two people in the twelve vehicles.
Jiang Han took the collars and distributed them one by one. “If you want to live, put them on obediently. Anyone who tries to stop me from staying alive will die before I do!”
His gaze swept over the former members of his team one after another. They now belonged to Lin Mu.
The crowd remained silent and put on the collars in turn.
Seeing this, Lin Mu also got out of his vehicle and slowly walked over to Jiang Han.
“I told you back then that I was inviting you to join me. At the time, you had so many men…”
Lin Mu left the rest unsaid. Now that those people belonged to him, there was no need to rub salt in Jiang Han’s wounds.
Jiang Han pressed his lips together. The team members who had died had all been carefully selected by him.
Of course he was heartbroken over their deaths.
But what was done could not be undone. What else could he do?
“Come on. I’ll introduce you to your future teammates. After seven days, I’ll officially bring you into the team.”
After receiving Lin Mu’s notice, Zhao Jin and the others also climbed out of their vehicles.
When the men from Jiang Han’s team saw the group of women in the distance, their eyes gleamed.
“Captain, this place is heaven!”
Jiang Han narrowed his eyes and whispered to the blond-haired man before him, “Put away those thoughts you shouldn’t be having, or you can look forward to being buried.”
The blond-haired man shuddered. He believed Jiang Han was capable of doing exactly that.
After all, quite a few members of the convoy had already been buried.
Having spent so much time together, the blond-haired man knew Jiang Han very well.
Ruthlessness was practically his trademark. No matter how long someone had been his teammate, once they made a mistake, they had better pray Jiang Han rewarded them with a bullet. Otherwise…
After hearing Jiang Han’s warning, everyone instantly became obedient. Even when they looked at Zhao Jin’s team, they did so furtively, not daring to stare openly.
“Let me introduce everyone. This is the captain of the Qin People Convoy. From now on, they’ll be joining us. And this is the captain of the Rose Convoy. Get to know one another.
“Since Zhao Jin is in charge of the entire convoy, you’ll report to her from now on as well.”
Jiang Han stared at Zhao Jin in disbelief.
What?
This woman was in charge of the entire convoy, and Lin Mu was simply handing over all his authority?
Then again, with a collar around his neck, what was there to fear?
Zhao Jin looked helpless. She was indeed in charge, and there were so many matters to deal with every day that she genuinely wanted to quit.
“Ahem, Captain Lin Mu, would this arrangement work? As the captain of the Qin People Convoy, Jiang Han’s abilities must be exceptional. Could I hand half of the responsibilities over to him?”
Zhao Jin looked at Lin Mu expectantly, hoping to hear him agree.
Jiang Han was even more confused.
Did they actually give away authority as well?
If he could not remain captain, becoming vice-captain would not be so bad.
Even if he had to wear a collar, he would still be a vice-captain, would he not?
Lin Mu shrugged. “I don’t mind. As long as the work gets done, do whatever you like.”
Whether Zhao Jin handled things, Shu Yi did, or Jiang Han took responsibility, it made no difference to him.
All he wanted was a convoy that obeyed him and belonged to him.
“Let me make one thing clear first. You are made up of three teams—or rather, four teams combined. Zhang Qian, I haven’t assigned you any duties. You’re not upset with me, are you?”
Lin Mu was not wrong. The original twenty vehicles had been formed from two separate convoys.
As for Shu Xin, Shu Yi, and the others, they had merely been captives he had taken, who later became his “team members.”
The rest went without saying: the Rose Convoy and the Qin People Convoy.
That was the structure of Lin Mu’s Handsome Bastard Convoy.
Lin Mu did not care about the various little factions within the convoy.
As long as they brought him value, nothing else mattered.
Zhang Qian hurriedly smiled. “Of course not. I actually find this arrangement rather relaxing.”
Those were his true feelings. He had seen the worry etched across Zhao Jin’s face every day.
Previously, nothing had gone wrong with the convoy because Lin Mu had never treated its affairs as important.
But now that Zhao Jin had taken over, she could no longer manage things that way.
Lin Mu nodded. “The convoy is complicated, and everyone has their own little circles. I can understand that. But I’ll say this much: I don’t care how many circles you form. However, if a conflict breaks out, that’s another matter. Whoever is at fault will accept the punishment. Don’t come to me promising you won’t do it again—I don’t have the time for that.
“So think carefully about the consequences before you do anything.”
He was not a judge. He had no intention of handing out sentences of three, five, or seven years.
When trouble arose, there were only two possible paths: live or die.
At most, he would drain whatever value they still had before they died.
Everyone agreed with Lin Mu’s words.
More importantly, none of them dared to disagree.
